Most visitors need a visa to enter Uganda, and the good news is the process is fully online. Uganda uses an e-visa system, so you apply, pay, and receive approval before you fly. Citizens of a few African and Caribbean countries are exempt, but travellers from Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Oceania should plan on applying.

How to Apply for the Uganda e-Visa

Apply through the official Uganda Electronic Visa Application System. Approval usually takes two to five working days, so submit your application at least two weeks before travel. You will need:

• A passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date
• A recent passport-size photograph
• A yellow fever vaccination certificate
• Your travel itinerary or hotel booking
• Payment of USD 50 for a single-entry tourist visa

Arriving at Entebbe International Airport

A yellow fever certificate is mandatory for entry. Malaria prophylaxis is strongly recommended, and most travellers also update routine vaccinations.
